Identified Pear Tree: #P03TW Beurré Hardy (Butter Pear)

Tree Type: Pear, dessert
Harvesting Date: Early October
Location: Salem, MI (TW)
Approximate Tree Age: 50+ years
Tree Status: Antique orchard
Possible Tree Varieties: Fairly certain this is Beurré Hardy (France, 1820) or a variety of butter pear. Could also possibly be a Nye pear, but shape isn't quite correct.

Fruit size: Medium
Shape: Classic
Fruit color: Golden with heavy russeting
Skin: Medium-thick, due to russeting, but still fragile
Flesh: Cream colored and prone to bruising
Additional notes on appearance:  Short stemmed with very rounded base

Taste: Honeyed, sweet and floral
Texture: Smooth and buttery (heh)
Additional notes on taste: Incredibly fragrant and floral when ripe, but still complex flavor when unripe which makes a good cooking/cider pear

Disease/Pest notes: Unfortunately most of the fruit has symptoms of pear scab which makes storage an issue.
